Snag Big Discounts This Holiday Season

Created: On November 21, 2008 @ 11:44 am In

It’s a week until Black Friday, the traditional start of the holiday shopping season. Although I normally avoid shopping on the weekend after Thanksgiving, this year I may be tempted to actually check out a few of the deals being offered by local retailers.

That’s because many retailers are slashing prices big time to lure in customers who have been reluctant (or unable) to spend because of the economy. I’m thinking that now may be the time to look for major bargains on a few things I’ve been putting off buying but need to get. But if I can’t pay cash for it I won’t be buying it.

Kohl’s is just one of the stores that will offer discounts of [1] as much as 75%. The retailer says it will have 300 early-bird deals on Black Friday. And like many other retailers, Kohl’s has already started offering some decent discounts even before the Thanksgiving holiday. Wal-Mart has already cut prices on a lot of popular [2] toys. Lowe’s and Sears also began advertising their Black Friday specials early.

If you plan to shop this holiday season for just about anything there is absolutely no reason you should pay full price. Leave the credit cards at home and use cash for your purchases. Make a rule that if you can’t afford it you don’t buy it. With all the deep discounts you should be able to buy what you need without going further into debt.
